Cystatins – Unpublished Data

Unpublished work by Bill Gregory in the Maizels Lab established that Bm-CPI-1 is expressed on the surface of infective L3 larvae, and Bm-CPI-2 on the surface of adult parasites. We also showed by metabolic labelling that CPI-1 is a major product of the L3s, consistent with the PCR time course data.

In Brugia malayi.  Bm-CPI-1 is expressed only in the mosquito stage (upper panel), and Bm-CPI-2 throughout the life cycle (including mammalian stages, lower panel (Figure from Bill Gregory).
